Get and Set a Riecoin Wallet

In this page, there will be instructions to set a Riecoin wallet and start receiving and spending coins.

As said in Getting Started, there are three main wallets: Riecoin Core 0.10.2, 0.16.3, and the Cryptapus' WebWallet.

Install and set Riecoin Core 0.10.2

Download the wallet

Official download links are available here↗️ (but don't download the miner, it is outdated and really inefficient). Click on the Linux, 32 and 64 bit binaries. Windows 32 bit binaries. MAC binaries↗️ link and choose the correct file in Sourceforge. Install Riecoin Core (I am assuming that you are using an x64 system, but if it is only 32 bits, just use the 32 bits files instead):

Configure the wallet

You are now ready to run Riecoin Core. But, it is not ready for now, you must do something before. Indeed, if you open it right now, the wallet will not sync: it needs to find connections to peers in order to download the blockchain, but as 0.10.2 is really old, hardcoded peers are all outdated, and it will not sync at all. So, you will manually add peers in the configuration file. First, find your Riecoin data directory: it should be located in

If it does not exist, create the folder, or run Riecoin Core then close it. Once you found the directory, create a riecoin.conf file containing:

connect=nodes.riecoin-community.com
connect=5.9.39.9
connect=37.59.143.10
connect=78.83.27.28
connect=144.217.15.39
connect=149.14.200.26
connect=193.70.33.8
connect=195.138.71.80
connect=198.251.84.221
connect=199.126.33.5
connect=217.182.76.201

Now, you can run Riecoin-Qt, and it will sync, connecting to the peers given in the riecoin.conf. However, it will take a few days. To skip this, I provide the blockchain in my website up to Block 973561. Once downloaded, you can put its content (the folders "blocks" and "chainstate") next to the riecoin.conf.

Once the synchronization is done, you can start using Riecoin-Qt to receive and send coins!

Install and set Riecoin Core 0.16.3

Download (or compile) the wallet

Version 0.16.3 is still in development and very experimental! Only send small test amounts for now! Make sure to read the known issues below.

As this version is still unofficial, there is no official download links. You can find ready to use Riecoin Core 0.16.3 executables in my website:

Else, you can also compile the wallet yourself, I wrote a HowTo↗️ in the community forum.

Configure the wallet

For now, no current peer was hardcoded in this version, so it will also be unable to sync. You will have to follow the same instructions as for 0.10.2, read above.

Additionnally, you will need to set addresstype=legacy in order to use usual "R" addresses instead of MultiSig "T" address (they are homologuous to the Bitcoin "1" and "3" addresses). So, the riecoin.conf file should look like:

addresstype=legacy
connect=nodes.riecoin-community.com
connect=5.9.39.9
connect=37.59.143.10
connect=78.83.27.28
connect=144.217.15.39
connect=149.14.200.26
connect=193.70.33.8
connect=195.138.71.80
connect=198.251.84.221
connect=199.126.33.5
connect=217.182.76.201

To skip the syncing, I provide the blockchain in my site up to Block 976563 for Riecoin Core 0.16.3. Once downloaded, you can put its content (the folders "blocks" and "chainstate") next to the riecoin.conf.

Once the synchronization is done, you can start using Riecoin-Qt to receive and send coins!

Known issues

Also, be sure to read all the discussion about this version in the BitcoinTalk Topic since this post↗️ and this topic↗️

Transactions not confirming

Transactions created with 0.16.3 will not broadcast, thus will not confirm. This is because the transactions are created with a version number that is rejected and not relayed by 0.10.2 wallets.

Actually, the IP 78.83.27.28 in the lists above is a 0.16.3 node, so it will relay the transactions created with 0.16.3 to other 0.16.3 wallets. However, such users are currently a very small minority, and there are only a few miners that use this version and that will be able to confirm your 0.16.3 transaction. If you do not mind waiting days, your transaction will eventually get through. It is a matter of time that 0.16.3 adoption becomes significant enough to make waiting more acceptable.

Unable to spend coins "stored" in "T" addresses

It is possible to send coins to "T" addresses, but you cannot sent them back from such addresses, because Segwit is currently not activated. For now, it is recommended to only use classic "R" addresses with the option "addresstype=legacy".

Use the Cryptapus Webwallet

Go to his JsWallet↗️. Move your cursor in the box area during some time, and a wallet will be generated for you. You now have an address and to receive and send payments. To keep it, you can bookmark the page, it should look like "https://cryptap.us/ric/jswallet/#0123456789AbCdEFghIJKLmnopQRst" (do not use this one).

You should also backup your private key by clicking on the gear icon, and saving the Private Key given by "Export Private Keys".

Though this wallet is very easy and convenient to use, you should use a full node (Riecoin-Qt 0.10.2) instead if you intend to store important funds.
